Assignment 3A - My Entrepreneurship Story

To be quite honest, I have never thought of myself as an entrepreneur. I don't think creatively in ways that I can make money or fix problems in the world. In High school, I never opened my horizons to the incredible world out there of creating, molding and fixing things. Luckily as I have gotten older, I look at the world differently. People inspire me everyday at University of Florida to grow rather than stay the same.
My first experience with entrepreneurship was when I started dating my current boyfriend. He started his own company by the age of 15 and never looked back since. He looks at the world as one big opportunity for him to make a difference in his life and in the life others. His company was a horse breeding company where he bought and sold quarter horses. He turned his passion for horses into a money making machine. Not only did he make money, but he sold incredibly talented horses to passionate riders all around the world. This was the first time I realized that passions can be turned into a business and it doesn't matter your age. It takes determination and dedication to make great things happen. Now that I am senior I hope to make people lives better, whether that be through my own company or through one that I work for. Entrepreneurship is the heart of the American dream. 

I chose to join Principles of Entrepreneurship because I hope to grow in my knowledge of how to run a company and the true foundations of being a great entrepreneur. I really do not know anything about entrepreneurship so I am so excited to learn more!

27A- Reading Reflection No.3

The book I decided to read was the Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users by Guy Kawasaki. I have read this book twice now because this book is a required reading for one of my advertising classes. What I loved the most about this book was Guy’s way of making everything so easy for any reader to understand. His step by step understanding of social media makes it appealing for everyone. What I admired the most was Guy’s ability to bring in emotion to social media. His idea of being thankful, it reminded me that I should never steal someone’s work or words and I should always tag people to their original work. I also really liked how his book was made to be a fast and easy read. Guy believes in the power of social media and all he wants is to help his readers. 21A- Reading Reflection No. 2

General Theme: The book that I read was Inbound Marketing by Brian Halligan. This book was an easy read for me because I am an advertising major and I learn about this a lot in class. Halligan focused his book on describing the customer driven marketing method of inbound marketing. He started by explaining how the changing technological world has changed the world of marketing forever. Old methods such as push marketing is outdated and consumers now only respond to pull and inbound marketing. Halligan argued that inbound marketing is the best way to market your product because it is customer driven rather than product driven. The book focuses on creating content that the customer will be attracted to and that the marketing team can receive active analytics on.
