9A-Testing the Hypothesis Part 2

The Who My new interviews provided great insight into the market I will be targeting. The few people that I interviewed all had some things in common. They were extremely healthy and did not go to the doctor often. They had no need for a medical focused app because they took no meds and were extremely conscious of their healthy lifestyles. One girl I spoke to was a vegan and she expressed to me how she only believes in holistic medicine. Additionally, I found out there was opportunity in using this app for children going to summer camps and schools. One interviewee expressed to me how annoying it was to have vaccine records sent to these places. She said an app that could help her send medical records would be great. Two interviewees said they did not like technology and would get confused with an app. I never took this into consideration however, I realized that some people simply do not like using their phone. There interviewees were elderly and they brought to light that I sh...

8A- Solving the Problem

- The idea that I have come up with is producing an app that can keep track of all your medical records, medications and symptoms. This app will allow you to automatically send your doctor files and share with them all your symptoms and medical history before the actual appointment. This app will be a "pre-appointment" application with a focus on communication between patient and doctor. Elderly people will have an easier time communicating with their doctors about medications and symptoms while younger adults will have an easier time communicating with doctors their medical history. Transferring hospitals and switching doctors will be much easier. The application will have a very simple feature where you just fill in your general medical history and medications. There will also be a feature where you start to fill in dates and symptoms as they appear. Once you fill all of this in, you can send the information directly to your doctor through email. The app will generate a re...

7A- Testing the Hypothesis Part 1

The opportunity I have chosen came to mind when I came down with the flu. I realized it when the doctor was asking me so many questions I did not know the answer to. People who are sick and go to the doctor are asked several questions about their symptoms, health history and medications and the patients sometimes do not know all the answers because they do not remember or simply do not keep track of the medical issues and health. Who: Sick patients The what: cannot answer questions from their doctors about their medications, symptoms and medical history. The Why: people usually do not keep track of what date they started to feel symptoms, the scientific names of their medications they are on and their medical history. Testing the who: Everyone from young adults to elderly people can keep better track of their own medical history. People can forget or not really be conscious of how important it is to track their symptoms and medical history. Not only one demographic group can b...

6A Identifying Opportunities In Economic and Regulatory Trends

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/09/01/business/economy/manufacturing-trump-jobs.html?rref=collection%2Ftimestopic%2FEconomic%20Conditions%20and%20Trends&action=click&contentCollection=timestopics&region=stream&module=stream_unit&version=latest&contentPlacement=2&pgtype=collection This article was found in the New York Times. This article explains how manufacturing and mining jobs are up this year after having fallen for most of 2016. Much of this is accredited to Donald Trump in presidency. However, the article says there is “plenty of catching up to do” and therefore I believe there is clear opportunity here. People who lost their manufacturing jobs in 2016 or are generally unemployed have an opportunity to join in the economic growth and make money. Also, manufacturing owners have an opportunity to grow business. This opportunity is relatively easy to exploit if the factory or mining owners have the resources to add more employees and grow thei...

Assignment 4A- Forming An Opportunity Belief

Opportunity: I believe there is an unmet need for pet travel. In the wake of Hurricane Irma, I realized that so many people have difficulty evacuating due to the burden of having pets that cannot fly on an airplane. For an animal to travel on the plane they must be a service animal or fit in a dog carry-on under the seat. During certain times of the year, many pets cannot go under the plane because most planes do not have air-conditioned sections for animals. During dire situations, it is horrible to feel as though you are stuck because you must take care of your animals. Many Americans feel very invested to their pets and would never leave them behind. These loyal pet owners are the people who have always experienced this problem. Most people nowadays buy fake service animal certificates to allow their pet on the plane or they simply must evacuate with their animal some other way. I am 60% sure this opportunity exists. First Interview: 25-year-old girl on plane, traveling with ...

Assignment 5A- Identifying Local Opportunities

Want to legally rent on Airbnb in Pinecrest? It'll cost you $800  http://infoweb.newsbank.com/resources/doc/nb/news/166ADEACDE823228?p=WORLDNEW This article focuses on how the residents of Pinecrest in Miami, Florida are required to pay $800 dollars for a certificate of approval to rent their properties through Airbnb.  The problem in the article is that residents should have their own freedom to rent out their properties if the own them. Pinecrest is placing restrictions for property holders because they claim renting out properties causes "noise, safety issues and trash". This is a problem for people who live in these homes temporarily and would like to make money to rent them out. This law prevents individuals from making business off of the popular tourist industry in Miami.  The individuals that have the problem are the home owners that are seeking business opportunities by renting out their homes. All the hoops that they have to cross makes the whole renting p...
