11A- Idea Napkin No.1
Assignment 11A
Who You Are. My name is Ciara Jones. I am an advertising
major with a concentration in business. I hope to one-day work in an agency and
eventually for a brand that I really love. I am a talented advertising student
with experience from several businesses in South Florida in copy writing, sales
and social media. I am passionate about advertising and marketing and hope to
one day make a difference for a company that shares the same values with me.
This business idea would impact so many people lives for the better. I
currently work for a startup that is passionate about preventative health care
and I feel this app would be a great step in the right direction for
preventative healthcare.
What are you offering to customers? The concept that I am
offering to customers is a phone app that will help alleviate some of the
stress before a doctor’s appointment and during the appointment. This app will
allow patients to track their medications, fill out pre-appointment forms at
home and help them track their own medical records. This app will help people
take control of their health and let them communicate with their doctors more
effectively.
Who are you offering it to? I am offering this application
to both doctors and patients. This application will serve for doctors as an
easy communication platform between their patients. Now, when doctors have a
new patient, they can easily look at the app records and get a lot of the
information from there. These doctors are willing to involve their business with
more technology and want to help make the lives of their patients easier. Any
type of doctor can use this app, including dentists. The second group I am offering
the product to are patients who want to take control of their health by
documenting their health on their own. These consumers are tech savvy and are
willing to take the time to document their health. Many of these consumers
already visit the doctor often and would benefit from the app. These consumers
can be both men and woman. For marketing purposes, I would like to focus on millennials
ages 18-34.
Why do they care? Consumers will buy this product because it
will help their health. The idea of preventative health care is booming right
now and this app can help people take better control of their lives. The
application will relieve some of the pressure of having to fill out paperwork
an hour before an appointment and help patients record more of the medications
they are taking. This app is a tool to feel more in control of your life and
health. Also, patients will pay for the app if their doctor decides to the use
the service also. Patients listen to their doctor’s advice much more than any
marketing campaign.
What are your core competencies? This application provides greater
communication between doctors and their patients. There is no application out
there that allows patients to fill out paperwork in advance and allows for
patients to track their own medical records. Patients will be able to take
control of their own health and feel more secure knowing that they have
everything down on file. Transferring documents between doctors will also
become much easier, something a lot of patients struggle with today.
Honestly, I am still not sure about the transferring medical
records aspect of my app. I think later, I will just focus on the keeping track
of medications, making your own medical records, and pre-appointment paper
work. The transferring medical records aspect would require doctors to also use
the app to record medical records and this is not what I want to the app to be used
for. However, all in all, I think the
different aspects of the application will help a lot of people and fits well
together.
This actually makes a lot of sense, I really like the idea. I feel like a lot of time is wasted at the doctor's office filling out paperwork and such and you never really get a good look at your own medical records. Having everything in once place and speeding up the process of doctor's appointments is not only convenient for patients but I can see how it could be very valuable for doctor's offices as well since they can see more patients in a given amount of time. I'm sure your experience at the startup would also help you along with the creation of this app.
ReplyDeleteWhile I really like your idea, UF actually has already developed an app with the Infirmary to allow patients to book appointments and keep track of their prescriptions. As well UF Health Stands Hospital is currently finalizing plans for a similar app. So the problem I see with your product would be marketing it hospitals and other health care facilitates to implement. While small, private practices may be the ideal target, several other large hospitals around Florida are already working on their own apps. But regardless I think you mapped out your idea well.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea that even hospitals should use it. I know that most information on patients have been electronically inputted into a database with some hospitals back at home. I’ve seen nurses using rolling computers where they can input medications as well as time for when to take medications so that anyone who looks up information of the patient can see right away what the issue is and what they are taking to be treated. I wonder if between your app and their technological information if more doctor’s offices would use these methods to make it easier on the patients.
