17A Elevator Pitch No.2

Reflection: For my second elevator pitch I tried to stick with the same story line in the beginning but change up the end. A lot of the comments I received on the last one were positive; however, I still am having a hard time feeling confident doing this. I am not good in front of an audience and the thought of people watching my video makes me nervous. I think this is great practice for the real world and I hope this activity strengthens my confidence in speaking in front of others. All of the feedback I received was positive and helpful. This time I tried to come off as more professional but I think I still have a lot to work on. The best advice that I received was that I should try my hardest to come off convincing but not too eager. A good balance between exciting and professional is what I was going for.
Based on the feedback, I tried to be more professional, confident and use my hands a lot less. I feel like I was too dynamic in the last video.

  1. Hi Ciara, I think you did great. I feel the same way as you, I hate the idea that people are watching my video! lol But, like you said this is great practice for the future as well as helps with comfort and confidence when speaking to audiences. Like mentioned before, I like your idea!

I think the tone you used was good and you spoke at a good pace as well.

  2. Ciara,

I also felt a self-conscious when I was recording my elevator pitch. I feel like I get a little awkward in front of the camera, which is something I tried to improve for my second try. However, I think you did a great job. I'm sure with practice though you'll start to feel more and more confident every time. If it helps, I would try practicing in front of mirror, that's a trick I learned from one of my parent's friends who's an entrepreneur himself and has had to make many pitches to investors. I also think you had a good balance, like you mentioned, you still seemed excited and enthusiastic but maintained your professionalism.

  3. Your video was definitely professional. The pitch was very calm and motivating as well. You sounded like you knew your information very well. This idea is great considering that everyone is always on their phone or at least has it with them 24/7. This would be very helpful for people who have many different doctors. I’m sure it’s very easy to lose track of information.
