27A- Reading Reflection No.3
The book I decided to read was the Art of Social Media: Power
Tips for Power Users by Guy Kawasaki. I have read this book twice now because this
book is a required reading for one of my advertising classes. What I loved the
most about this book was Guy’s way of making everything so easy for any reader
to understand. His step by step understanding of social media makes it appealing
for everyone.
What I admired the most was Guy’s ability to bring in emotion to
social media. His idea of being thankful, it reminded me that I should never steal
someone’s work or words and I should always tag people to their original work. I
also really liked how his book was made to be a fast and easy read. Guy believes
in the power of social media and all he wants is to help his readers.
The book did not really go into the adversities of Guy but he
did mention that he has put in years to understand social media like he does
now. I appreciate his grit and willingness to stick with it. His passion has
made me want to understand social media more.
Guy exhibits a personality that is curious to know everything
about something he is passionate about. He shows that he is willing to dive
deeper into every topic in his book. He is knowledgeable, curious and adaptable
to quick changes in his professional environment.
If I was to ask Guy two questions the first one would be, where
did his passion for social media stem from? And, as young advertising student
who loves social media, what do you think I should do as a student to train
myself to be as efficient on social media as possible?
Lastly, I think Guys opinion of hard work is never giving up on
your passion. Whether that be blogging, you-tubing or building your Instagram following, no one should give up on their dream. With social media , success comes slowly
but in the end it is very rewarding.
I actually read the same book for my second reading reflection. I really enjoyed it as well, I appreciated how easy Guy Kawasaki made it for the reader to understand. I actually didn't really know that much about social media and social media management, so the book taught me some pretty important lessons. I can confidently say after reading it, I implemented some of the tips and trips into my accounts and thought about how I use each individual platform differently.
