9A-Testing the Hypothesis Part 2
The
Who
My new interviews provided great
insight into the market I will be targeting. The few people that I interviewed
all had some things in common. They were extremely healthy and did not go to
the doctor often. They had no need for a medical focused app because they took
no meds and were extremely conscious of their healthy lifestyles. One girl I
spoke to was a vegan and she expressed to me how she only believes in holistic
medicine.
Additionally, I found out there was
opportunity in using this app for children going to summer camps and schools.
One interviewee expressed to me how annoying it was to have vaccine records
sent to these places. She said an app that could help her send medical records
would be great.
Two interviewees said they did not
like technology and would get confused with an app. I never took this into
consideration however, I realized that some people simply do not like using
their phone. There interviewees were elderly and they brought to light that I
should maybe not target an older demographic but really on focus on millennials
and technologically savvy users.
The
What
This need is different because people are becoming more
health conscious and the future of medicine is changing to be more technological.
We are currently in the transition period where all medical records are online.
People need a safe and effective way to transfer these documents and take
better charge of their health.
The Why:
These people are health conscious to the point where they do
not need to track their health. Also, the elderly are not interested in using
the technology and just want stick to their old ways. Both parties inside and
outside the boundaries are interested in improving their health.
|
In the boundary:
|
Outside the boundary:
|
|
Who
Millennials who are health conscious
Elderly people who are looking to keep track of their medicines
Mothers of children to help keep track of vaccines
|
Millennials who believe in holistic medicine and do not want to go to
the doctor.
Elderly people who are not interested in technology
Some Mothers are just not interested in going through the hassle of
keeping medical records
|
|
What
Improve communications between patients and doctors.
Make medical records more easily accessible and to improve by
recording symptoms.
|
To completely make communication between patient and doctor online.
To take away from the intake form process in the actual appointment
|
|
Why
People need easier access to their own medical records.
People to have a safe place to write down symptoms and medications
|
Medical records should be private and not so easily accessible for
the patient.
Doctors can keep track of medications and symptoms can be discussed
in the appointment.

ReplyDeleteHi Ciara,
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting you and Alexandra both chose opportunities that looks to improve people's medical care. I think in a world where technology is constantly changing, an app that could help people keep track of what they need to take in order to keep themselves healthy and stay on track, would be useful. However, I do think that it would be tough to market your opportunity to those in the 65 and older demographic because that age group relies on technology the least compared to any other. But I myself, being someone who uses technology frequently, would benefit from the app that you suggested.
Reading your idea, makes me think of so many ways this can benefit people. iPhones already have features like "Health" integrated in the phone so this app can be an extension of that. It would be so convenient for people who like you mentioned are health conscious. Even the people you mentioned "outside the boundary" that rather take a holistic approach can benefit from knowing when their symptoms start.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how the holistic medicine can work. I am a believer of holistic medicine; however, I believe it is important to go to the doctor and actually have a scientific reason for why one is sick or what can be done. Doctors see thousands of patients per year and one needs a good explanation to tell the doctors the symptoms that one has in order to treat the sickness immediately. Fixing the app is a great option, so as creating one.
